The attack took place in the late morning, in broad daylight. Yuval was helping guard a bus stop used by soldiers and civilans. Suddenly, a car pulled up and a terrorist jumped out and began to fire at all the Israelis at the stop. Two were killed on the spot, including Yuval.

The terrorist managed to get back in the car and get away before security forces arrived on the scene.

Thousands of people attended his funeral, held in the military cemetery in Ashkelon.

“You gave up on your dreams in order to make a meaningful contribution as a combat soldier,” said Kfir Brigade commander Colonel Tzion Ratzon at his funeral. “You died in the defense of your homeland, and I guarantee you that our spirits will never fail. We will not rest or be silent until we catch the terrorist.”
