Kamil Shanan

He left behind his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Three terrorists opened fire on a group of Isaeli policemen, hitting Shanaan and Satawi in the upper body before being killed by police.

A resident of the Druze village of Hurfeish, Kamil was due to celebrate his engagement a week after the murder. He had joined the police force seven months earlier.

Thousands attended his funeral in his home village. His father, former Knesset Member Shakib Shanan, delivered his eulogy:

“I saw the headline and couldn’t imagine that I am the father of one of the victims,” he said. “He didn’t answer his phone, and I knew something terrible happened.

“My prayer to the creator is that this is the last victim, that we exchange the gun for a flower. Rest in peace. In the name of the people of Israel, I hope that you are the last victim.”
